Construction
“Validating construction removes risks for vendors that do custom work or fabricate building components off site. Custom metal and ceramic paneling is one example of this service in use. Some parts of a building are difficult to validate such as curved surfaces, laser scanning can verify if the structure was built to design or if there is a deviation. The point cloud also shows the location and nature of the deviation.
Will your component’s tie points match whats in the field? Will that switch gear or transformer match up to the anchor-bolts on the equipment pad? Is that pad Level?
Building owners and stakeholders can also use scanning services as a record of what parts of a building are completed, built to specifications, and as an as-built record or “digital twin” of the structure. For buildings like hospitals that undergo many renovations throughout its life cycle, having a point cloud as an as-built reduces delays and the guesswork during later renovations.
